Game over

What am I to do now that the Beijing Olympics are coming to an end? When I get up in the early hours of the morning I will have nothing to watch on TV and now hoping for another Gold medal for Team GB.
We have just had our most successful games ever and in four years time we will be hoping for a similar, if not better, result then. I am still annoyed that the UK still felt the need to bid for and hold the Games in the London when money, time and effort should have been put into a second attempt by the City of Manchester, if not then perhaps a more central City such as Birmingham. Although I appreciate the ‘feel good’ factor the Games can bring I am not so sure that having most of the facilities in London will benefit the Country as a whole when most UK citizens rarely, if ever, visit the Capital city.
The Midlands already lost out to the building of the National football stadium at Wembley and if it had been situated centrally in the Country we may not have had the delay and overspend before the stadium was eventually opened and let’s hope that the same mistakes are not made with the Olympic building programmes.

I guess I will have to get back to taking notice of the more important things on the World stage that affect mankind in a less than favourable manner than the success of the Games.

Missed the closing bit, but saw some of it later on the BBC IPlayer on the internet.
Hope your westfest is as good as the Olympics. [You probably have the same budget the London has for the 2012 Olympics!]
